During the workshop students will be able to tick off the following 5 ‘Actions’:

ACTION 1: CHOOSE A CHAMPION ANIMAL

ACTION 2: KNOW YOUR CHAMPION ANIMAL
Key inquiry question: What are the requirements of our local animals?

ACTION 3: Habitat Connectivity
Key inquiry question: How do the natural areas near the school connect up to provide habitat for animals?

ACTION 4: Habitat Survey
Key inquiry question: What habitat does the school site already provide suitable for your Champion Animal?

ACTION 5: Habitat Asessment
Key inquiry question: What habitat improvements can be made to make sure all habitat requirements are met for your Champion Animal?

WHAT YOU GET DURING THE WORKSHOP
A 30 minute introductory presentation (for all)
- Learn about the needs of animals and how their behaviour dictates where they can live sustainably
An 1 hour Class workshop (max 4 classes per day)
- We introduce a local animal that your class will champion as a case study (each class will be assigned a different one!)
- Conduct a habitat survey and assessment in your school grounds specific to the Champion Animal
- Consider threats and solutions (including hands-on projects) to assist the Champion Animal

THEN WHAT?
Consolidate the learning from the workshop in the student workbook. Then continue the learning sequence to ReWild Your School. See ‘Actions 6-10’ below.
When you have completed the program, flick us some pictures and we will send your school a RYS certificate signed by Jane Goodall and add your school to the interactive RYS map.
Once the workshop is concluded, cover ‘Actions’ 6-10 to complete the program:

ACTION 7: Design a Wild Habitat
Key inquiry question: What do we need to provide to improve habitat for local animals?

ACTION 8: Tell Others

Key inquiry question: What are the steps and responsibilities we need to consider in preparing for our ReWild Your School planting day?

ACTION 10: Monitor your habitat
Key inquiry question: How do we know our habitat improvements have been successful?
