MEDIA RELEASE

The Jane Goodall Institute Australia (JGIA) announces that funding is available for eligible schools to make use of the new groundbreaking environmental education program in Australia aimed at primary students.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation through the Eldon & Anne Foote Trust funding is available for eligible schools in Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia to get access to the powerful ReWild Your School environmental education program.

ReWild Your School is designed to inspire and engage year 5 and 6 students in hands-on environmental education, fostering a deeper connection with nature and encouraging stewardship of the natural world.

Developed by environmental and teaching experts with clear curriculum links, teaching outcomes, and engaging content, the program strives to address the urgent need to halt biodiversity decline, minimise climate impacts, and enhance mental well-being through a transformative environmental education experience.

JGIA Resources Manager, Abbie Mitchell, who led the creation of the program said that environmental education should be taught to every student in Australia so they have a clear understanding of the world around them.

“By introducing concepts like biodiversity, conservation, and sustainability, we empower students to become shared stewards of the environment, encouraging a sense of responsibility and care for our planet with young people from around the world and fellow community members who are working together towards a common goal”, she said.

The grant will cover the cost for students to participate in this transformative program, with prices ranging from $13 per student for the digital program to $18 per student for an incursion led by our team (subject to location). Please note that minimum participant numbers apply.

Why should a school apply for this valuable program?

Curriculum aligned with main outcomes in geography and science

Incorporates integrated science perspectives with purposeful and measure local applications

Contributes to a school’s cross curriculum priorities

Equips students with critical thinking skills

This is a highly exclusive opportunity, and only a select number of schools will be fortunate enough to receive this grant as funding is limited. Don’t miss out on the chance to bring this incredible program to your students and community!
